Open House

Written by Henry Rago

Kananga, a small town in Leyte was one of those places devastated by the super typhoon Yolanda. Residents sought shelter at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Hermitage founded by Mother Teresita of Trinity. Help started coming from generous private persons and the hermit nuns distributed them while they camped at the Hermitage grounds as evacuation center.

Devotees from different places and the evacuees joined in the daily dawn rosaries and Sunday masses at the hermitage.  Faith was indeed at work but the Mother Foundress did not fail to notice one thing.  There were 21 couples regularly attending mass but were not receiving communion. Revelation: some were not married in the Catholic Church and some have not received the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and reconciliation.

This presented an opportunity for Familia to bring Jesus through the Sacraments. A team headed by Alan and Luz Pangilinan, Henry and Luth Rago was urgently formed to conduct a seminar to prepare the couples for marriage. Two months after the wedding, the first ECLS was held in the OLQP Hermitage attended by more than 100 participants. A miracle indeed, God’s compassion and love made manifest through the sacraments and revealed Himself through the ECLS.
